Billboard Hot 100 chart achievements and milestones
This list highlights significant milestones and achievements based upon Billboard magazine’s singles charts, most notably the Billboard Hot 100.. This list spans from the issue dated January 1, 1955 to the present
Prior to its creation, Billboard published four singles charts: “Best Sellers in Stores”, “Most Played by Jockeys”, “Most Played in Jukeboxes” and “The Top 100” (an early version of the Hot 100). These charts, which ranged from 20 to 100 slots, were phased out at different times during 1957 and 1958
“Buddy Holly’s debut single in the Top 40 was released posthumously” or “Elvis Presley has seven Hot 100 number-ones”).. In a prominent example of the magazine’s retroactive methodology, Elvis Presley’s “Don’t Be Cruel”/”Hound Dog” single is credited with an 11-week run atop the Billboard chart in 1956, because the double-sided release topped the “Best Sellers in Stores” and “Most Played in Jukeboxes” lists for that length of time (though the specific weeks differed)

We take a look at the tracks to have spent ten weeks or more at the top.. American crooner Frankie scored his first ever UK Number 1 in April 1953, just after his 40th birthday and seemed reluctant to let go
Famous composer Mantovani then claimed the Number 1 spot, before Frankie gave him a nudge and racked up an additional three weeks. Only five songs in history have scored three separate stints at the top!

In the week following its November 12 release, Swift’s 10-minute, 13-second ballad was streamed 54.5 million times by listeners in the United States alone. Officially titled “All Too Well (10-Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),” the song served as the much-anticipated closing track on Swift’s rerecorded version of her fourth studio album, Red (2012)

The Longest Reigning No.1 Singles In Big Top 40 History. Which single is the longest reigning No.1 in the history of the Vodafone Big Top 40? You may be surprised!
The single spanned over both 2014 AND 2015 after it was rush released after Fleur East performed the tune on the X Factor.. Not only were Clean Bandit able to bag a HUGE amount of weeks at No.1 in 2016, it was the Vodafone Big Top 40 Christmas No.1 too!

What song was stuck at number two in the charts for the longest time?
Since the establishment of both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, achieving a number two hit has been a special kind of bittersweet. On the one hand, a number two is a massively successful single, and one that can either propel an artist to superstardom or solidify their place atop the pop music mountain
It might seem in bad taste to grouse about scoring a number two hit, but there’s no getting around the fact that when it’s all said and done, number twos don’t get remembered in the same ways that number ones do. Whether the song is good or bad, acclaimed or infamous, of its time or timeless, number ones have etched their place in history above all other songs
I will defend James Blunt’s ‘You’re Beautiful’ and even Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’, but someone desperately needs to explain to me the ‘Mr. Number twos don’t get this kind of public discourse
What song stayed number 1 the longest?
|19||Lil Nas X (1 week solo, 18 weeks featuring Billy Ray Cyrus)||“Old Town Road”|. |16||Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men||” One Sweet Day ”|

Elvis Presley’s Streak of Hit Singles
Recently, a reader of elvis-history-blog.com asked, “In your opinion, what was Elvis’ greatest accomplishment on the record charts?” I had to think about that one for a while. Elvis certainly had impressive overall numbers on Billboard’s “Top/Hot 100” charts
Of them, 14 reached #1, 32 others made the top 5, and 38 more cracked the top 10.. His most impressive achievement, however, has to be the amazing seven-year streak he put together on the singles chart after signing with RCA in 1955
Think about that … 24 straight major hit singles over 7 years! No other recording act during the vinyl era even approached that record. (I address the “What about the Beatles?” question later on.)

‘Anti-Hero’ Becomes Taylor Swift’s Longest-Running No. 1 Single, With Eight Weeks on Top
“Anti-Hero” has officially become Taylor Swift’s biggest single to date by at least one metric: It’s topped the Billboard Hot 100 now for eight non-consecutive weeks. That’s one more than the seven weeks her previous leader in that ranking, “Blank Space,” managed back in 2014-15.
She also added a postscript about SZA, the artist with whom she is sharing adjacent spaces at the top of both the album and singles charts right now. So much love and respect for her!” That’s an acknowledgement of an apparently friendly chart rivalry at the moment (or at least friendly between the artists, if not all fans): On the Hot 100, a SZA single is currently No
Besides “Anti-Hero” and “Blank Space,” she’s had chart-toppers with “Shake It Off” (four weeks at No. 1), “Look What You Made Me Do” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (three weeks each at the top) and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” “Willow,” “Cardigan” and “Bad Blood” (each enjoying a single week at No

On 20 October 2018, in its 91st week on the chart, “Despacito” climbed from No.3 to No.2 and was still threatening to add to its 56-week reign at the top, 20 months after first reaching No.1.
Justin Bieber was added as a featured artist from 6 May 2017, when the remix of the track became available for download/streaming.. “Despacito” was replaced at No.1 by “Mi Gente” (“My People”), by J Balvin, Willy William and Beyoncé, on 21 October 2017 before reclaiming top spot from “Mi Gente” after that track’s 12-week reign, on 6 January 2018
